Leather vs. Faux Leather
Leather
Let’s face it, this FW leather is super hot. Leather jackets, leather pants, leather trenches, leather jewelry, leather shoes, suede leather, shiny leather….. It’s leather EVERYTHING!
Leather was one of man’s earliest and most useful discoveries. Cavemen hunted animals for food and then used the hides for clothing and shoes. So leather has been around forever. (seriously since like 5000 BC) And leather will never go out of style because leather is just cool. There is nothing you can’t wear with a black leather jacket - jeans, a summer dress, plaids, that little black dress, shorts, professional work clothes, you name it.
Leather is also a great investment because it can last forever

The Pros:
Extremely durable
Smells like the real deal
Oozes luxury
Considered environmentally friendly
The Cons:
Expensive
Can fade in sunlight
It’s porous so it can stain
Limited in colors
Not animal friendly
Faux Leather
If you don’t like the thought of wearing “leather” or you can’t afford it, faux leather is now a really good alternative. I’m serious! The quality has improved greatly…. so much so, I dare you to tell the difference between some faux leather and genuine leather pieces these days.

Pros:
Can be made in many colors
Less Expensive (although I saw a faux leather jacket at Black & White for $435 -- ouch)
Don’t smell
Fade Resistant
Usually less stiff, more pliable, light, so easy to wear
Cons:
Not as durable
Not breathable
Poor quality faux leather looks fake
Environmentally wasteful
